We’re turning one! It’s been a phenomenal first year since our soft-launch at the first Open Streets on May 31, 2015, and we’re marking the occasion this Sunday at the first Open Streets event of the summer.
We’ve had a special relationship with Open Streets. On May 31st, 2015 Healthy Ride had its soft-launch at the first-ever Open Streets with 12 active stations, 8 of which were conveniently located on the Open Streets route. We kicked the whole day off in a grand fashion, riding en masse with County Executive Rich Fitzgerald to our offices on Penn Avenue for some much needed coffee and some conversation too. We saw hundreds of people hop on Healthy Ride bikes zipping up and down Penn Avenue and Butler Street. It was an incredible first day. And the Open Streets that followed in June and July were no different, it’s a great day to enjoy riding car-less streets and Healthy Ride offers a quick way to explore the entire route.
This year, we want to celebrate our one-year and Open Streets in a big way. Join us @OpenStreetsPGH for our one-year celebration, experience all of the fun things Penn Ave and Butler St have to offer, and swing by our offices at 3328 Penn Avenue along your way. Don’t miss it!
At 10:30, David White, our Executive Director will make a special announcement about our 2016 plans.
