Need a boost of confidence when you grab life by the bars? Join Healthy Ride and Bike Pittsburgh for our Level 2: Confident City Cycling Class. The class takes place at the Homewood-Brushton YMCA on Saturday, July 14 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Register here.
The class will teach you how to navigate Pittsburgh’s busy streets and commute safely. You’ll check your bike and helmet fit and practice skills, such as body bike separation, brake modulation, weight distribution and quick hazard avoidance. After the skills session, we’ll take a 60–90 minute group ride to put our knowledge to the test. You’ll practice how to cross large intersections, ride on fast roads and read traffic patterns and road conditions.
Don’t have a bike? No worries! Free Healthy Ride bike rentals are available for participants ages 16+. If you’d like to use a Healthy Ride bike, just request a rental on your class registration.
This class is open the the public, but geared to experienced bike riders. Note, you must sign this waiver to participate in the class.
