The health and safety of our customers is a top priority for all of us at Healthy Ride. As Pittsburgh prepares for the spread of COVID-19 in our region, we strive to follow recommendations from the City of Pittsburgh, the Allegheny County Health Department, and our local institutions to limit the spread of the virus. We would like to take this opportunity to inform our riders about best practices when it comes to using the Healthy Ride system and preventing illness.
Healthy Ride is a shared service that is used by hundreds of people every day. To prevent the spread of disease while using our system:
• wash your hands before and after each ride (or use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol)
• avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands
• consider wearing gloves as a precaution
In addition to hand washing, the CDC also recommends social distancing — putting distance between yourself and others in your community. During this time, we anticipate an increase in ridership as people seek transit alternatives that do not require close physical contact. Our team is currently taking steps to sanitize our fleet of bicycles — however, it is still recommended that our customers wash their hands after each use. We will take all measures to ensure a high-functioning transportation service for our city.
